About Us
Late Capt. Shri. Shivrampant Damle, the Pioneer of Maharashtriya Mandal, established this Institution with the group of young and fit people in 1924. During those years it was found that the Maharashtriyan youth had to be directed to enter the services i.e. the Armed Forces, in view of IInd World War. With this motive in mind, Capt. Damle took it upon himself to educate and encourage
the youngsters in this direction. The mission was to develop and inculcate an attitude towards wellness, which is the quality of life that one leads. This enabled to nurture healthy, strong, courageous youth who were free of any vices and who had a sense of commitment towards the society and the nation. This led to the setting up of special coaching classes for the NDA entrance examination.
All this required to educate and produce good dedicated and committed teachers of Physical Education. An initiative was started in 1932 with the permission from the Government to start a College of Physical Education. This resulted in the establishment of College of Physical Education in the year 1977. It took 45 long years to complete and convince all the authorities. This shows the commitment and dedication of Capt. Damle of Maharashtriya Mandal in achieving his mission.
The Military Officers could not flourish in their jobs as they were lacking in english, so as to overcome this hurdle, Capt. Damle started an English Medium School in 1964. Along with that, he also started a Marathi Medium School. Today, the Institute has one English Medium School at Tilak Road, one at Gultekdi and one Marathi Medium School in the Gultekdi campus with colleges of physical and as well as commerce education. Under his able wings, today Maharashtriya Mandal has flourished in various fields like physical, social and cultural.
Maharashtriya Mandal’s English Medium School was established in 1965 with the goal of providing high quality education to a wide range of students. This school emphasizes our culture, health and the value of humanity by incorporating elements like celebrating festivals, encompassing traditional arts and crafts into the curriculum and promoting healthy lifestyles through education and physical activity. Giving the students not only lessons from the curriculum but also life lessons, making them ready for their future. We focus on humanism involving teaching students about empathy, compassion, and social responsibility, potentially through service learning projects and discussions about current events and building them so as to be unfazed by adversity and ready to persevere. We believe in providing opportunities for students to engage in sports, yoga, and other physical activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle and well-being.
We also offer resources and support for students’ mental health, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. Teaching students to be empathetic and compassionate towards others, fostering a sense of responsibility is what is focused on here. We also incorporate values like honesty, integrity and respect into the curriculum, emphasising the importance of ethical behaviour and responsible citizenship. Our school strives to create a holistic learning environment that nurtures not only intellectual growth, but also cultural awareness, health and wellbeing, and a strong sense of humanism and social responsibility.
About Maharashtriya Mandal
Maharashtriya Mandal Institution was started by Late Captain Shivrampant Damle in the year 1924. Captain S.V. Damle was committed to societal betterment. This strong determination resulted in him setting up this institution. Driven by a desire to underscore the crucial role of health and quality education for the future citizens and preparing our youth for military training, he founded this institution at just 24 years of age. Eventually, the institute expanded to include five schools, one Commerce college, one Physical Education college, and multiple sports academies all supported by a vast campus in Mukund Nagar with its original roots at Tilak Road.
