Here’s an idea about the common criteria of the admission process.
- Age criteria – The cut off date for age calculation is typically December 31st of the academic year for which admission is sought.
- For mini-kg, generally 3 years old by the cut off date, for junior-kg, 4 years old by the cut off date and for senior-kg, it is 5 years old by the cut off date.
- Class one – The child must complete 6 years of age by the cut off date. (For example, if the academic year starts in June 2025, the child should be 6 years old by December 31st, 2025.)
This age criterion is usually firm, especially with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises age appropriate schooling.
Along with the application form and the admission form, parents will typically need to submit photocopies and show originals for the verification of the following –
- Child’s original birth certificate is mandatory for nursery to class one admissions.
- Leaving certificate or transfer certificate is required if transferring from another school from class two onwards.
